Defense counsel for an individual NFL marketing agent sued by prominent global sports agency for competition and solicitation in violation of a written employment agreement. The individual agent defeated a motion for preliminary injunction after an evidentiary hearing, froze arbitration proceedings for years during the pendence of a related dispute, and ultimately obtained a full negotiated dismissal of claims against him.

Plaintiff’s counsel for a prominent NFL player’s agent suing a global sports agency for millions of dollars in separation payments after the agent was allegedly and publicly terminated “for cause.” After discovery, a fifteen-day AAA arbitration hearing conducted in Missouri and California, and over 200 pages in post-hearing briefing, the arbitrator found that the agent was terminated “without cause” and awarded compensation to the individual agent exceeding $10 million.

U.S. v. Baker

Trial counsel for former C.E.O. of a medical device company prosecuted for conspiracy, securities fraud, and false statements in connection with securities fraud alleged to have resulted in a loss to investors of over $750 million. After a four-week trial in federal court before the Western District of Texas, the jury found the C.E.O. guilty, but the conviction was later overturned by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, resulting in a retrial on the merits.

Texas v. Ana Gonzales

Lead trial counsel for prominent cancer doctor accused of poisoning a former colleague and romantic interest. Messrs. Drumheller and Hollingsworth defended the doctor during a two-week trial that captured widespread media attention, jury deliberations over two days, and punishment proceedings. Dr. Gonzales was ultimately sentenced to ten years for an offense for which she faced a potential life sentence.

Defense counsel for Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, who was accused of reckless injury to his 4-year-old son. The defense team achieved a favorable outcome for Mr. Peterson by avoiding jail time in a plea agreement on a misdemeanor charge.

Texas House of Representatives Select Committee on Transparency in State Agency Operations Proceedings

Special Counsel to the Texas House of Representatives Select Committee on Transparency in State Agency Operations tasked with an examination of the conduct of University of Texas Regent Wallace Hall. Our team collected, reviewed, and indexed over 150,000 pages of documents regarding the investigation subject, conducted dozens of interviews, assisted the Select Committee in conducting four public hearings, and prepared a voluminous report providing findings of fact and conclusions of law supporting the issuance of articles of impeachment against the former UT Regent. In a 7-1 vote, the House committee then voted there are sufficient grounds for Regent Hall’s impeachment.

Defense counsel for architects pursued by the TBAE for allegedly improper marketing in connection with a public school construction bid. After extensive discovery and counter-allegations that the Board engaged in an illegal and unconstitutional process, the parties reached a favorable negotiated resolution preserving all licenses and the proceedings were dismissed.
