Public Interest

Public Interest Lawyers

The attorneys at Drumheller, Hollingsworth & Monthy, LLP strive to serve the greater good of our community and its inhabitants by providing legal services in matters of public interest. Our attorneys are dedicated to matters that affect more than just our clients, but the also the public at large. We believe this commitment to certain causes not only creates the possibility of widespread change in the legal system, but also creates long-lasting change in the lives of individuals. We are proud of our track record of providing legal services in cases where we not only advanced the interests of our clients but we also served a larger goal than the actual results of the particular dispute through the defense or reform of public policy.

Our philosophy is that attorneys form lasting relationships with the communities they serve by engaging in public interest legal services. We believe attorneys should be leaders who are regularly active in pro bono representation, along with regulatory, legislative, public policy, and public interest work. We are also proud to serve on and represent government entities, non-profit associations, and civic boards to ensure our firm is proactively working on solutions as well as responding to our clients’ problems.

How Drumheller, Hollingsworth & Monthy, LLP Can Help

Drumheller, Hollingsworth & Monthy, LLP offers assistance on a wide range of public interest matters. Our past experience includes taking on unjust laws, regulations, and/or practices that affected vulnerable and underprivileged individuals or populations. We also work with clients to fight for or against policy change, particularly when that change adversely affects the community at large. Public interest matters are often highly publicized, which plays to our strength and experience managing media coverage for these and other types of cases. Because public interest litigation also involves emergency action, our attorneys are well-positioned to seek pre-trial relief – including filing for restraining orders and/or temporary injunctions – as well as manage complex and lengthy trial proceedings.

No potential public interest client is too small or too large for our firm. When we take on a pro bono, reduced fee, or other cause-related case, we do not reduce our dedication in any way. We will file all necessary legal documents, request restraining orders or injunctions, handle media coverage, and take cases to trial if necessary. With public interest cases, we are dedicated to protecting our clients and, when necessary, fighting for the greater cause.
