Lindsay M. Contreras is a Senior Associate at DHM. Lindsay is a versatile and dynamic litigator with years of large-firm experience in business litigation. Lindsay’s wide-ranging practice has focused on the energy sector, including representing upstream and midstream entities in complex commercial and personal injury litigation. In 2022, Lindsay was selected as a member of the highly competitive Institute for Energy Law’s (IEL) Leadership Class, and she currently serves as a board member for the Oilfield Services Committee of the IEL.
Lindsay assists DHM’s commercial, public interest, and criminal clients through all phases of litigation, including trial. Lindsay is a high-energy, creative-thinker, and she excels at tackling complex problems and seeking emergency relief. In addition, Lindsay is certified in Legal Project Management, which qualifies her to organize and provide efficient and impactful legal services to DHM’s clients.
Lindsay is passionate about keeping current with trends and topics in the law and serving her legal community. Lindsay has helped develop and organize CLE programs for lawyers in Houston and beyond by serving on the Houston Bar Association Continuing Legal Education Committee, and she currently serves as an HBA committee Co-Chair. Lindsay has also given presentations geared towards trial attorneys and young lawyers in the energy industry. In 2022, Lindsay was invited by the State Bar of Texas to join its Pro Bono College following her work on a pro bono animal law case featured on local and national news outlets.
Lindsay is a graduate of the University of Houston (UH) Law Center. While in law school, Lindsay was on the Dean’s List and earned the highest grade in her class in Legal Research & Writing. Lindsay also represented UH in inter-school negotiation, mediation, and arbitration competitions, and she was inducted into the National Order of the Barristers. Lindsay was the Compliance Editor for the Business and Tax Law Journal at UH and authored an article for publication. In addition to private firm experience in law school, Lindsay served as an intern with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and the honorable Federal Magistrate Judge Francis Stacy of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Lindsay enjoys mentoring the next generation of lawyers by volunteering to coach or judge local and regional law school mock trial, moot court, and negotiation competitions.
Prior to joining DHM, Lindsay was a member of the Business Litigation Practice Group for an AM Law 200 firm and was recognized as a top performing associate by her colleagues. Lindsay was also selected for a peer-review recognition for the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Commercial Litigation for 2024.
